ABOUT THE PROJECT
Within this project, you will lead an elite engineering task force acting as a strategic R&D extension for a top-tier global semiconductor company. We are building a world-class, production-ready software ecosystem and SDK for an unreleased, next-generation multi-core wireless System-on-Chip (SoC).
In this role, you aren’t just writing firmware; you are building the core engine and foundational software layers that thousands of developers worldwide will rely on to build their IoT products. Your team will architect complex Inter-Processor Communication (IPC) frameworks, adapt modern real-time operating systems (like Zephyr and FreeRTOS), and build sophisticated RF resource scheduling mechanisms to ensure seamless multi-protocol wireless coexistence. Furthermore, you will guide the native integration of advanced wireless protocol stacks, including Amazon Sidewalk, BLE, and 802.15.4, into this newly minted SDK. This is a rare opportunity to shape the developer journey for a major silicon platform from the ground up, working directly with hardware architects and pre-production silicon.
YOUR ROLE
- Leading the architectural design and implementation of the foundational SDK, Hardware Abstraction Layers (HAL), and Board Support Packages (BSP) for a complex, heterogeneous multi-core SoC.
- Architecting advanced Inter-Processor Communication (IPC) mechanisms to seamlessly orchestrate data exchange and synchronization across isolated application, protocol, and radio processing cores.
- Driving the design of dynamic RF scheduling and coexistence logic to manage conflict-free access to a shared RF front-end across multiple complex wireless protocols.
- Guiding the implementation of hardware-enforced security boundaries (e.g., Secure Enclaves, TrustZone) and secure bootloaders to meet stringent industry certification standards (such as PSA Level 3).
- Overseeing the native integration and deep optimization of complex wireless protocol stacks (including Amazon Sidewalk and standard 2.4GHz/Sub-GHz protocols) into the SDK.
- Providing technical mentorship and code-level leadership to a squad of senior embedded engineers.
- Collaborating closely with silicon architects to validate pre-production hardware (RTL simulations, FPGA emulators, early engineering samples) and engineer robust software workarounds for silicon errata.
- Championing the developer experience (DX) by ensuring the SDK features elegant APIs, comprehensive Doxygen documentation, and flawless RTOS integration.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of experience in Embedded Software Development and low-level systems engineering.
- Proven track record in a Lead Developer or Technical Architect role, guiding the technical direction of senior engineering teams.
- Expert-level proficiency in C programming for highly constrained, bare-metal, and RTOS environments.
- Deep experience adapting, configuring, and upstreaming real-time operating systems (e.g., Zephyr, FreeRTOS) for new microcontrollers.
- Solid understanding of multi-core microcontroller architectures and the complexities of inter-processor communication and shared memory access.
- Proven experience architecting HALs, BSPs, and low-level drivers from the ground up.
- Strong understanding of wireless communication mechanics, radio scheduling constraints, and MAC/PHY layer interactions.
- High tolerance for hardware volatility, with experience (or strong readiness) to work with FPGA emulators and pre-production engineering samples.
- B2+ level of English with strong technical communication skills.
NICE TO HAVE
- Direct experience porting or integrating the Amazon Sidewalk, standard Sub-GHz, BLE, or 802.15.4 protocol stacks.
- Familiarity with hardware-enforced security architectures (e.g., ARM TrustZone) and secure bootloader implementation (e.g., MCUboot).
- Previous experience contributing to open-source RTOS projects (specifically Zephyr).
- Familiarity with modern embedded build systems (CMake, Kconfig).
- Experience interacting with advanced continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines and automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing rigs.
