Senior Data Engineer (Real Estate)

ABOUT THE PROJECT

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer with strong leadership skills to join a Data Team. Within this project, you will be working on an IoT platform for a real estate company. The idea of this product is to make smart, highly available, and fault-tolerant AWS-based solutions for managing thermostats, smart locks, and other equipment in our clients’ apartments, and to make it easy to use. Our globally distributed teams are working on an event-driven system that will allow direct monitoring and control of devices located in apartments in the United States. On the Klika Tech side, we are responsible for the system’s end-to-end behavior, including front-end, back-end, and mobile applications.

YOUR ROLE

This role will blend strong data engineering capabilities with a proactive and organized approach to communication and cross-functional collaboration.

• Design and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for high-quality data delivery;
• Build and optimize scalable batch and stream processing systems from diverse data sources;
• Own the full data lifecycle from ingestion to transformation and loading into Snowflake, using tools like Airbyte, DBT, and Kafka;
• Help model transactional data into a unified 3NF schema and store it efficiently in data lakes and Postgres/RDS;
• Collaborate with analysts, developers, and stakeholders to prepare data for reporting, dashboards, and decision-making;
• Act as an organizational leader within the data team, owning tasks such as documentation, status updates, change management, and quality control;
• Support and improve Jira issue tracking, communications, and sprint coordination;
• Drive continuous improvement in platform processes and knowledge-sharing;

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years in data engineering or similar roles;
• Strong experience in SQL, Python, and ETL development;
• Expertise with tools such as Airbyte, DBT, Snowflake, Debezium, Kafka, and Postgres/RDS;
• Solid background in data modeling and mapping;
• Experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and both SQL/NoSQL systems;
• Proactive mindset with strong ownership skills and the ability to work independently;
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills;
• English proficiency at B2 level or above;

NICE TO HAVE

• One year of experience as a leader;
• Familiarity with Cube.js/Cube.io for data APIs;
• Experience provisioning cloud environments using Terraform and AWS;
• A good understanding of Agile methodologies.
